Privacy Policy

This notice covers the PeakPrint iOS app and this website. The person named in the imprint is the controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. This website
This website serves static pages only. It sets no cookies, embeds no analytics or advertising scripts, and loads no third-party fonts or content.
For technical reasons, the server briefly logs the IP address, requested path, and time of each request (legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in operating and securing the site). These logs are never linked to app accounts and are deleted automatically after 14 days at the latest.
2. Account and sign-in
Sign-in works exclusively through “Sign in with Apple”. We receive a pseudonymous identifier assigned by Apple — no password, and no email address unless you explicitly choose to share one through Apple.
On first sign-in you choose your own Instagram-style username, a display name, an optional short bio, a profile photo, and your date of birth. The date of birth is used solely to verify that you meet the minimum age (16) and is never shown to anyone.
The legal basis is performance of the contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
3. Prints, location and photos
A Print consists of a photo plus the GPS coordinates and altitude recorded at the moment it was taken. This is necessary to confirm a Print genuinely happened on a summit, and stays visibly attached to the Print until you delete it.
Photos are stored on servers we lease to run PeakPrint (server location: Frankfurt am Main, Germany).
For storm alerts, you can let the app share a coarse, rounded location in Settings. This can be switched off at any time; your last submitted location is then deleted.
4. Other users
Your profile, Prints, and follow relationships are visible to other signed-in users — that's the point of the app. You can block accounts and report content; reports are seen only by us, for review.
5. Push notifications
If you allow notifications, Apple provides us with a device token we use to deliver messages (e.g. new followers). That token is never shared with anyone besides Apple and us.
6. Sharing with third parties
We use Apple's services for sign-in and notifications (Sign in with Apple, Apple Push Notification service). We never share data for advertising purposes, and we use no analytics services or trackers.
7. Retention and deletion
You can delete your account, including every Print, follow relationship, and setting, directly in the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deletion is immediate and permanent.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection (Art. 21), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Use the contact address in the imprint.
